Thai Mango Salad (Som Tum Mamuang)

Ingredients:

  • 2 whole Green mangoes
  • 2 whole Chili peppers
  • 2 whole Garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsps Fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • Juice of 1 lime Lime juice, fresh
  • 0.25 cup Peanuts
  • Handful, torn Cilantro leaves

Instructions:

  1. Peel the green mangoes and shred them into thin strips using a mandolin slicer or a sharp knife.
  2. Using a mortar and pestle, pound the chili peppers and garlic into a coarse paste.
  3. Add the shredded mangoes into the mortar and pestle, followed by the fish sauce, sugar, and lime juice. Toss the ingredients together until well combined.
  4. Transfer the salad to a serving plate, sprinkle peanuts and cilantro leaves on top, and serve immediately.
