Servings: 2

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Japanese short grain rice
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds
  • 1 stalk Green onions
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil

Instructions:

  1. First, rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan and let it simmer for about 15 minutes or until the water has been absorbed.
  3. Crack an egg into a bowl, and beat it lightly. Add soy sauce and sesame oil into the bowl, mix it with the beaten egg.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, take it off from the heat and let it sit with the lid on for about 5 minutes.
  5. Fluff the rice with a rice paddle or a fork. Pour the egg mixture over the hot rice, stir it well until the rice is evenly coated with the egg mixture.
  6. Chop the green onion stalk into fine pieces, and sprinkle them with sesame seeds on top of the rice.
  7. Serve the Tamago Kake Gohan immediately, while it's still hot.
