Spicy Szechuan Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams firm tofu
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 pieces green onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 piece ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Szechuan peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons chili bean paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Drain the tofu and cut into bite-sized pieces, set aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat the oil, then add chopped green onions, garlic, and ginger. Fry until fragrant.
  3. Add the Szechuan peppercorns and chili bean paste, stir for a minute.
  4. Add the tofu pieces to the pan and gently stir until they are coated with the sauce.
  5. Combine the soy sauce, sugar, water, and cornstarch in a bowl. Pour this mixture to the pan.
  6. Simmer until the sauce thickens. Serve hot.
