Spicy Prawn Masala

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Fresh prawns
  • 1 large Onion
  • 2 medium Tomatoes
  • 2 pieces Green chillies
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 3 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 large Lemon
  • a handful Cilantro leaves
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Clean and devein the prawns. Marinate them with salt, turmeric and lemon juice and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onions, grated ginger and garlic, and fry until golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies, and cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.
  4. Add the red chilli powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add the marinated prawns to the pan and stir well to coat them with the masala. Cover and cook on low heat for about 10 minutes, until the prawns are cooked.
  6. Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves and lemon wedges. Serve hot with naan or rice.
