Spicy Midnight Yakiniku (Japanese Grilled Beef)

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams beef ribeye
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger

Instructions:

  1. Slice the beef ribeye thinly and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Add the grated garlic, sliced red chilli pepper, and grated ginger to the sauce.
  4. Marinate the beef in the sauce for at least 10 minutes, but preferably overnight for best flavor.
  5. Heat up the sesame oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and grill for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until preferred doneness.
  6. Plate the grilled beef. Serve with steamed rice or lettuce wraps. Enjoy your spicy yakiniku!
