Spicy Japanese Grilled Fish (Togarashi Yaki)

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces White flesh fish fillets
  • 2 tablespoons Japanese seven spice (Shichimi Togarashi)
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Mirin
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 inch, grated Ginger
  • 2 cloves, minced Garlic

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, ginger, and garlic to make the marinade.
  2. Place the fish fillets in the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Leave them to marinate in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat a grill or griddle pan on medium heat.
  4. Remove the fish from the marinade, and sprinkle the Japanese seven spice evenly over each side of the fillets.
  5. Grill the fish for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until cooked through and the skin is slightly charred.
  6. Serve the spicy grilled fish warm, with a side of steamed rice and vegetables if desired.
