Spicy Japanese Chicken Yakitori

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Boneless chicken thighs
  • 8 Bamboo Skewers
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Mirin
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Japanese sake
  • 2 teaspoons Japanese seven spice powder (Shichimi Togarashi)
  • 4 stalks Green onions

Instructions:

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and thread onto the bamboo skewers.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake to make the yakitori sauce.
  3. Sprinkle the chicken skewers with the Japanese seven spice powder, then dip them in the yakitori sauce to marinate for about 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat the grill on medium heat. Grill the skewers, brushing occasionally with the remaining sauce, for about 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
