Spicy Indian Rice Snacks (Chawal Ki Tikki)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Cooked rice
  • 3 tbsp Gram flour (Besan)
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 finely chopped Green chilies
  • 1/2 cup, chopped Coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chaat Masala
  • to taste Salt
  • for shallow frying Oil

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, gram flour, chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, red chili powder, chaat masala, and salt. Mix them well.
  2. Combine the mixture to make a dough. If the mixture is too dry, add a little water.
  3. Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it between your palms to make a flat, round disc.
  4. Repeat this process to make more discs with the rest of the dough.
  5. Heat oil in a pan for shallow frying. Once the oil is hot, gently drop the discs into the oil.
  6. Fry the discs on a medium flame until they turn golden brown. Flip them over and fry the other side as well.
  7. Once done, remove the discs from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve the Spicy Indian Rice Snacks hot with a dip of your choice!
