Spicy French Pasta Arrabiata

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 can canned diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • for garnish fresh basil leaves

Instructions:

  1. 1. Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until just tender but still firm to bite.
  2. 2. While the pasta is cooking, heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add garlic and red chili flakes; sauté until fragrant.
  3. 3. Add tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and pepper and simmer over medium heat until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4. Once pasta is done, drain and add it directly into pan with sauce. Toss to coat pasta with sauce.
  5. 5. Turn off the heat, add grated parmesan cheese and mix well until cheese is melted.
  6. 6. Serve the spicy French pasta arrabiata hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
