Spicy French Beef Bourguignon

Ingredients:

  • 4 strips Bacon slices
  • 1 pound Beef chuck
  • 2 cups Red wine
  • 1 unit Onion
  • 6 units Garlic cloves
  • 2 units Carrots
  • 2 teaspoons Red chili flakes
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 1 cup Mushrooms
  • to taste unit Salt and pepper
  • 2 sprigs Fresh thyme

Instructions:

  1. In a large pan, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, but leave the fat in the pan.
  2. Season the beef with salt, pepper and chili flakes. Add it to the pan and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef and set aside
  3. In the same pan, add the onions, garlic, and carrots. Cook until softened
  4. Pour in red wine, stirring well, scraping off any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan
  5. Return the beef and bacon to the pan, add beef broth, mushrooms, and thyme. Bring to a simmer
  6. Transfer everything to a pot, cover it and let it simmer for about 2 hours
  7. Check the beef after 2 hours, it should be tender and the flavors should be well combined. Adjust the salt and pepper if necessary
  8. Serve hot with a side of crusty bread or over mashed potatoes
