Quick & Easy Indian Breakfast Rice Pulao

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Basmati rice
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Ghee or oil
  • 1 medium size, finely chopped Onion
  • 2 finely chopped Green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon, grated Ginger
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 cup, finely chopped Cilantro

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 10 minutes then drain.
  2. Heat the oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, green chillies and grated ginger. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
  3. Drain the rice and add it into the pan. Add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and mix everything together. Stir fry for about 2 minutes.
  4. Pour in 2 cups of water and give it a good stir. Cover the pan and let it cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
  5. Garnish the rice with finely chopped cilantro. Fluff the rice gently with fork before serving.
