
Quick and Easy Indian Style Rice

Ingredients:
- 2 cups Rice, preferably Basmati
- 4 cups Water
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 1 small Red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- As per taste Salt
Instructions:
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain.
- In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
- Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and sliced onion to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until the seeds pop and onion starts to soften.
- Stir in the turmeric, and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Add the rice to the pan and stir to coat the grains in the oil and spices.
- Add the water and salt, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the rice is cooked and all the water has been absorbed.
- Fluff the cooked rice with a fork, and serve immediately.
