Prawn Masala

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Prawns
  • 2 Large Onions
  • 3 Medium Tomatoes
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • To taste Salt
  • 1 Lemon
  • Handful Coriander Leaves, for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons Cooking Oil

Instructions:

  1. Clean and de-vein the prawns. Squeeze the juice of the lemon over the prawns, then rinse with water.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped onions and sauté till translucent.
  3. Add finely chopped garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté till aromatic.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.
  5. Incorporate the spice powders: chilli, turmeric, cumin, coriander, and garam masala. Mix well.
  6. Add the cleaned prawns to the pan. Season with salt to taste. Stir until prawns are well coated with the mixture.
  7. Cover and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes, until prawns are fully cooked.
  8. Once ready, garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot with naan or rice as per preference.
