Japanese Yakitori Chicken Skewers

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Chicken thighs
  • 2 units Spring onions
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Mirin
  • 1 tablespoon Sake
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 10 units Skewers

Instructions:

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-size pieces.
  2. Cut the spring onions into 1-inch pieces.
  3. Prepare the Yakitori sauce. Mix the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar in a bowl until the sugar is dissolved.
  4. Soak the skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.
  5. Thread the chicken and onions onto the skewers.
  6. Heat a grill or a cast-iron grill pan over medium heat. Brush some oil onto the grill.
  7. Cook the skewers on each side for about 2-3 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked.
  8. While cooking, brush the skewers several times with the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately, with more sauce on the side if desired.
