Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Donburi for Breakfast

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Boneless chicken thighs
  • 2 cups Japanese rice
  • 1 cup Teriyaki sauce
  • 2 stalks Spring onions
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 sheet Nori (seaweed)
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Japanese rice according to the package instructions.
  2. While the rice is cooking, cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a pan, cook the chicken pieces until they are no longer pink.
  4. Pour the teriyaki sauce into the pan and stir until the chicken is well coated.
  5. Continue to cook the chicken in the sauce until the sauce has thickened.
  6. In a separate pan, fry the eggs to your preference. For an authentic Japanese experience, try making them sunny side up or slightly runny.
  7. Once everything is cooked, assemble the donburi by placing rice at the bottom of a bowl, followed by the teriyaki chicken and a fried egg on top.
  8. Garnish the donburi with chopped spring onions, torn nori, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
