Ingredients:

  • 4 Fresh Mackerel Fillets
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin
  • 2 tablespoons Sake
  • 2 cups Japanese Short-Grain Rice
  • 1 bowl Japanese Pickles
  • 4 servings Miso Soup
  • 4 Nori Sheets

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the grill on medium heat.
  2. Mix soy sauce, mirin, and sake in a bowl to make marinade.
  3. Marinade the mackerel fillets for at least 5 minutes.
  4. Grill the mackerel for 7-10 minutes on each side until cooked through and golden brown.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the Japanese short-grain rice as per packet instructions typically rinsing the rice, adding it to a pot with water and leaving it on medium heat.
  6. Serve grilled fillets with the cooked rice, miso soup, Japanese pickles, and a nori sheet on the side. Enjoy your traditional Japanese breakfast!
