Japanese Fruit Sandwich (Fruit Sando)

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices White bread
  • 8 whole Strawberries
  • 1 whole Kiwi
  • 1 whole Banana
  • 1 whole Peach
  • 1 cup Whipped cream
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Start with the fruits. Wash your strawberries and peach, peel the banana and kiwi.
  2. Cut your fruits into slices that are about 1/2 inch thick. Be sure to save some slices of each fruit to use as toppings.
  3. Spread a good amount of whipped cream on one side of every piece of bread. Make sure to spread it all the way to the edges.
  4. On four of the slices of bread, arrange the slices of fruit. Make sure to evenly distribute them to ensure every bite has a bit of fruit and cream.
  5. Cover the fruit with the other four slices of bread, creamed side down. Press softly to close the 'sandwich'.
  6. Trim off the crusts from each sandwich. Cut each sandwich into 2 or 3 pieces, revealing the beautiful fruit inside.
  7. Optional step: Dust the tops of your 'Fruit Sandos' with powdered sugar for a bit of added sweetness.
  8. Serve immediately, or refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.
