Japanese Exotic Breakfast: Grilled Miso Glazed Fish

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces Fish fillets (cod or salmon)
  • 2 tablespoons White miso paste
  • 1 tablespoon Sake
  • 1 tablespoon Mirin
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 Cup Japanese Rice
  • 1 Pack Nori Seaweed Strips
  • To Taste Pickled ginger

Instructions:

  1. First, let's make the marinade for our fish. In a bowl combine the white miso paste, sake, mirin, and sugar. Mix until well combined and sugar is dissolved.
  2. Place fish fillets in a dish, and pour over the marinade. Ensure all sides of the fish are coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, although overnight is best.
  3. While fish is marinating, prepare your rice following the package instructions.
  4. Preheat grill or broiler to high. Remove fish from the marinade, draining off any excess. Grill the fish for 3-5 minutes each side, or until cooked to your liking and the surface is caramelized.
  5. Serve the fish hot, over the prepared rice. Garnish with nori seaweed strips and pickled ginger. Enjoy your exotic Japanese breakfast!
