Japanese Chicken Yakitori

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Boneless chicken thighs
  • 4 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Mirin
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 bunch Scallions
  • 8 pieces Bamboo skewers

Instructions:

  1. Soak the bamboo skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.
  2. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Thread the chicken pieces onto the bamboo skewers, alternating with pieces of scallion.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer until the sauce thickens.
  5. Preheat a grill or broiler. Grill the skewers, turning frequently and basting with the sauce, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred, about 10 minutes.
  6. Serve the yakitori with the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.
