Servings: 4
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 50 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 lb Beef
- 2 cups Japanese sushi rice
- 2 cups Water
- 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Mirin
- 1 tablespoon Cooking sake
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 4 pieces Nori (seaweed) sheets
Instructions:
- First, rinse the rice under cool water until the water runs clear. Then cook the rice in a rice cooker or on the stovetop according to package instructions.
- While the rice is cooking, cut the beef into small pieces. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and cook the beef until browned.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar. Pour this mixture over the cooked beef and stir well to coat. Continue to cook until the sauce has thickened.
- Once the rice is cooked, let it cool slightly and then shape into balls or triangles. Make a small indent in the middle of the rice and fill with a spoonful of the beef mixture. Close the rice around the beef and reshape if needed.
- Wrap the onigiri with a sheet of nori and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
