Italian Beef Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 12 pieces Lasagna noodles
  • 1 whole Onion
  • 3 cloves Garlic
  • 28 oz Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 whole Egg
  • 1/4 cup Fresh basil leaves
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, one whole egg, and chopped fresh basil. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  5. To assemble the lasagna, spread a spoonful of tomato sauce in the bottom of your baking dish. Place a layer of lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  6. Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the noodles, and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mozzarella cheese on top.
  8. Cover the lasagna with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and browned.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for 15 minutes before serving.
