Indian Prawn Curry

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Prawns
  • 2 medium Onion
  • 2 large Tomatoes
  • 4 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 2 sprigs Curry leaves
  • 400 milliliters Coconut milk
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Oil

Instructions:

  1. Clean and devein the prawns. Rinse them under running water and set aside.
  2. Finely chop the onions, tomatoes, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add curry leaves and let them splutter.
  4. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
  5. Add the ginger and garlic to the pan and sauté for another minute.
  6. Now, add the chopped tomatoes and sauté until they turn mushy. Add turmeric powder, chili powder, and coriander powder. Mix well until the spices are well incorporated.
  7. Add the cleaned prawns to the pan and stir well. Cook it for about 5 minutes until the prawns start to get a bit firm.
  8. Pour the coconut milk into the pan and let it come to a boil. Lower the heat and let the curry simmer for another 10 minutes until the prawns are cooked through.
  9. Season with salt according to taste. Serve the prawn curry hot with steamed rice.
