Indian Comfort Food: Butter Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Chicken Breast
  • 2 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 large Onion
  • 3 pieces Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tablespoon, grated Ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 2 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin
  • 400 grams Tomato Puree
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • to taste Salt
  • a handful chopped for garnish Cilantro leaves

Instructions:

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Heat butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onions, and cook until they begin to soften — about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and ginger to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken to the pan and cook until it starts to become golden.
  5. Stir in garam masala, cumin, and chili powder.
  6. Add the tomato puree to the pan, stir well, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream, and let the mixture simmer for 10 more minutes, until the sauce has thickened.
  8. Season with salt, garnish with chopped cilantro, and serve with naan or rice.
