Homemade Japanese Style Miso Glazed Salmon

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets
  • 3 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 pieces garlic cloves
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 3 pieces scallions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce, sake, mirin, sugar, finely chopped garlic and grated ginger until smooth. This will be your glaze.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry and place them in a zip lock bag. Pour the miso glaze over the salmon and make sure all pieces are well-coated. Marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Remove the salmon from the marinade and place it onto a lined baking tray.
  4. Bake the salmon for about 15-20 minutes, or until it easily flakes with a fork.
  5. In the meantime, slice the scallions finely.
  6. Once the salmon is done, sprinkle it with sesame seeds and scallion slices.
  7. Serve your miso-glazed salmon with warm steamed rice or sauteed vegetables. Enjoy!
