Homemade Japanese Comfort Fish Cake

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Fish fillets
  • 2 medium Potatoes
  • 2 stalks Scallions
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • enough for frying Vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Boil the potatoes until they are fully cooked, then mash them.
  2. Chop the fish fillets into tiny pieces.
  3. Chop the scallions finely.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, chopped fish, scallions, soy sauce, salt, pepper and egg. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  5. Shape the mixture into medium sized patties, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. When the oil is hot enough, fry the patties until they are golden brown on each side.
  7. Drain the patties on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve hot with a side of soy sauce for dipping. Enjoy your comforting Japanese fish cake snack.
