Hearty Italian Beef Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 12 sheets Lasagna noodles
  • 1 whole Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 can Diced tomatoes
  • 1 can Tomato sauce
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup Ricotta cheese
  • To taste Fresh basil leaves
  • To taste Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until no pink remains in the beef.
  3. Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce to the mix, then season with salt, pepper, and fresh basil. Allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. In a separate pot of boiling salted water, cook the lasagna noodles until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  5. In a baking dish, begin by spreading a layer of the meat sauce, followed by a layer of noodles, a layer of ricotta, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of parmesan. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and continue baking for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for few minutes before serving.
