Healthy Midnight Beef Bolognese

Ingredients:

  • 0.5 pound Extra Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 0.5 Onion
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 can Canned Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 handful Fresh Basil Leaves
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • 8 ounces Whole Wheat Spaghetti
  • for garnish Grated Parmesan Cheese

Instructions:

  1. In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until onion is translucent.
  2. Add the extra lean ground beef to the pan and cook until it's no longer pink. Make sure to break it up into small crumbles as it cooks.
  3. Pour in the canned diced tomatoes (juice and all) and bring to a simmer.
  4. While the sauce is simmering, cook the whole wheat spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water according to package instructions. Drain well.
  5. Season the beef tomato sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. Add the fresh basil leaves and stir into the sauce.
  6. Serve the cooked spaghetti with a generous amount of the beef bolognese sauce. Top with grated parmesan cheese if desired. Buon Appetito!
