French-Style Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 6 units Eggs
  • 2 cups Whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped mixed fresh herbs
  • to taste units Salt and pepper
  • 1.5 cups Gruyère cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and butter a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the French bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in the buttered baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, herbs, salt, and pepper until smooth. Pour this mixture over the bread cubes.
  4. Sprinkle the grated Gruyère evenly over the top of the bread and egg mixture.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 minutes, until the cheese is bubbling and golden and the casserole is set in the middle.
  6. Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving to make it easier to slice.
