Easy Indian Spiced Fish Curry

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces Fish fillets (white fish like cod or haddock)
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 2 pieces Garlic cloves
  • 1 inch root Ginger
  • 2 pieces Tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • Handful Cilantro leaves (for garnishing)
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup Water

Instructions:

  1. 1. Chop the onion, ginger, garlic, and tomatoes finely.
  2. 2. Heat oil in a pan. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they start to brown.
  3. 3. Add the ginger and garlic to the pan and continue sautéing for another two minutes.
  4. 4. Mix in the tomatoes, turmeric, chilli, cumin, and garam masala. Sauté until the tomatoes are soft and the spices well mixed.
  5. 5. Stir in the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Lower the heat, cover, and allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. 6. Gently place the fish fillets into the curry, spoon some sauce over the top, and cover the pan. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked.
  7. 7. Check the seasoning and adjust the salt if necessary. Garnish with cilantro leaves before serving.
  8. 8. Serve hot with basmati rice or naan.
