Classic Italian Pasta Bolognese

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Carrots, finely chopped
  • 2 n/a Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 28 oz Canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup Dry red wine
  • 1 n/a Bay leaf
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 lb Spaghetti Pasta
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, celery, carrot, and garlic. Sauté until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. Increase the heat to high and add ground beef. Stir until cooked and browned. Drain off fat.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, wine, and bay leaf to the pot. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, for 2 hours.
  4. In the meantime, cook the spaghetti according to its package instructions. Drain well.
  5. Remove the bay leaf from the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and serve sprinkled with the freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
