Ingredients:
- 12 pieces lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 piece egg
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- to taste salt and pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook lasagna noodles until they are just done (al dente). Rinse the noodles with cold water and drain.
- In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it's translucent. Add in the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until it's brown and no longer pink.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, minced garlic, and dried basil. Simmer this mixture for 15-20 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese and egg. Season with salt and pepper.
- To assemble the lasagna, spread a spoonful of tomato sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Lay 4 lasagna noodles across the sauce. Spread a portion of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan. Repeat these layers till all ingredients are used, ending with a cheese layer on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes. After this, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese on top is golden and bubbly.
- Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it set for 15 minutes before serving. Enjoy your classic Italian comfort food!
