
Classic American Shrimp and Grits

Ingredients:
- 1 cup Grits
- 4 cups Water
- to taste Salt
- 1 cup Cheddar cheese
- 4 tablespoons Butter
- 1 pound Raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 1 Lemon
- 2 tablespoons Parsley, chopped
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water and salt to a boil. Slowly stir in the grits and reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for about 20 minutes until thickened.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese and 2 tablespoons of butter until melted and combined. Keep the grits warm on low heat.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the remaining butter. Add the garlic and shrimp then sprinkle with paprika. Cook the shrimp until they turn pink, about 3 to 4 minutes per side.
- Squeeze the lemon over the cooked shrimp and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
- Serve the shrimp over a bed of cheesy grits with the sauce from the skillet poured on top.
