
Classic American Rice Pilaf

Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 0.5 cup, finely chopped onion
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 bay leaf
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon, chopped fresh parsley
Instructions:
- 1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- 2. Add onion, and cook until fragrant and translucent, for about 5 minutes.
- 3. Stir in the rice and cook until lightly toasted, for about 2 minutes.
- 4. Pour in the chicken broth, bay leaf, salt, and pepper and bring it to a boil.
- 5. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer until the rice is tender and all the liquid has been absorbed, for about 15-20 minutes.
- 6. Remove from heat, discard the bay leaf, fluff the rice with a fork, and garnish with the fresh parsley before serving.
