
Classic American Mac and Cheese

Ingredients:
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 0.5 teaspoon powdered mustard
- 1 cup breadcrumb
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Cook macaroni according to the package instructions. Drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in enough flour to absorb the butter. Slowly whisk in milk, then add salt and mustard. Simmer until the mixture thickens noticeably (5 to 10 minutes).
- Stir in cheese, reducing the heat to low, until cheese is melted and the sauce is a little thick.
- Add cooked macaroni to the saucepan and stir to coat the pasta.
- Pour the pasta into a baking dish, then sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the top is crispy, about 25 minutes.
