Classic American Breakfast Fish Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound White fish fillets, boneless
  • 2 medium Russet potatoes
  • 1 cup Chopped onion
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • for frying Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes, then place them in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
  2. Heat a skillet on medium heat. Add the butter and melt. Add the onions and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, rinse the fish fillets, pat dry and chop into small pieces.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the fish, cooked onions, grated potatoes, egg, milk, salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs. Mix well until all ingredientsare combined.
  5. Form the mixture into patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties until golden brown on each side, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  7. Drain the fish cakes on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot with tartar sauce or your favorite breakfast condiment.
