Chinese Steamed Pork Buns (Baozi)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Pork belly
  • 4 stalks Spring onions
  • 1 inch piece Ginger
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 batch Dough for Baozi

Instructions:

  1. Chop the pork belly into small pieces.
  2. Finely chop the spring onions and ginger.
  3. Combine the pork, spring onions, ginger, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar in a bowl. Mix well and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 equal parts and roll each part into a ball.
  5. Flatten each ball of dough and add a spoonful of the pork filling to the center. Gather the edges and twist to seal the pork inside the dough. Repeat with the rest of the dough and filling.
  6. Place the buns on a piece of parchment paper in a steamer and steam for 15 minutes over high heat. The buns should be soft and fluffy and the pork filling should be fully cooked.
  7. Serve hot for a hearty Chinese breakfast.
