Chinese Comfort Fruit Porridge

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Short Grain Rice
  • 6 cups Water
  • 2 cups Assorted Fresh Fruits (like apples, oranges, berries)
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Add water to the pot and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low, covering the pot halfway and simmer until the porridge is your desired consistency (about 1 hour).
  4. Wash, peel, and chop your selected fruits into bite-sized pieces.
  5. While the porridge is cooking, put a saucepan on medium heat, add the chopped fruits, sugar, and a couple of tablespoons of water. Let it simmer, stirring occasionally until the fruits are soft and syrupy.
  6. Once your porridge is ready, stir in the honey and cinnamon until fully incorporated.
  7. Serve the porridge in bowls, topped with the fruit mixture.
