Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 cups cooked Japanese rice
  • 2 stalks green onions
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, mirin, sake, ginger and minced garlic to make the teriyaki sauce.
  2. In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and cook until they are no longer pink.
  3. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken, let it simmer until the sauce is thickened.
  4. Separately, steam the Japanese rice.
  5. Place the cooked chicken on top of the rice, drizzle with the remaining sauce from the skillet.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
