Breakfast Shrimp and Grits

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh shrimp
  • 1 cup grits
  • 1 cup, shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil.
  2. Slowly stir in the grits. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 5 to 7 minutes until thick.
  3. Stir in the shredded cheddar until it is fully melted. Cover again and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant.
  5. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until it turns pink.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Simmer until the sauce thickens.
  7. Serve the shrimp on top of the grits. Enjoy your comforting breakfast!
