Beef Sukiyaki - Japanese Comfort Food

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Thinly sliced beef
  • 1/2 cup Soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Mirin
  • 1/4 cup Sake
  • 4 stalks Spring onions
  • 1 block Tofu
  • 8 pieces Shiitake mushrooms
  • 4 bundles Udon noodles
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. First, in a bowl, mix together soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and sake to make the sukiyaki sauce.
  2. Cut the spring onions into 2-inch long pieces. Slice the tofu into 1-inch thick pieces. Remove the stems from the shiitake mushrooms.
  3. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. Add the beef and cook until lightly browned.
  4. Add the sukiyaki sauce to the pan and add the spring onions, tofu, and shiitake mushrooms.
  5. Allow everything to simmer together for about 10 minutes, then add the udon noodles.
  6. Cover the pan and let it cook for another 10 minutes.
  7. Serve the Beef Sukiyaki hot, garnished with some sesame seeds if desired. Remember to enjoy this comforting dish with some steamed rice!
