Beef Okonomiyaki - Japanese Savoury Breakfast Pancake

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams Beef steak
  • 1 cup, shredded Cabbage
  • 1 teaspoon Dashi powder
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 4 sliced Spring onions
  • to taste Okonomiyaki sauce
  • to taste Mayonnaise
  • to taste Pickled ginger
  • to taste Aonori
  • to taste Katsuobushi

Instructions:

  1. Thinly slice the beef steak and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and dashi powder. Add in eggs and mix until smooth.
  3. Fold in shredded cabbage into the batter until fully coated.
  4. Heat a pan over medium heat. Spread half of the cabbage batter onto the pan. Arrange the beef slices on top of the batter.
  5. Cover the beef with the remaining batter, spreading it evenly.
  6. Cook for about 5 minutes, then flip and cook the other side for another 5 minutes, or until both sides are brown and crispy.
  7. Drizzle with okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise. Top with spring onions, pickled ginger, aonori, and katsuobushi before serving.
